Maths Week Fun in Our School in Kilbarrack
We’ve had a busy and exciting Maths Week filled with hands-on learning and lots of smiles! Our pupils explored maths through meaningful, sensory activities — from counting and adding with playdough to discovering the difference between heavy and light objects.
We also practised counting and sequencing the steps to carve our Halloween pumpkins, counted spooky ghosts, matched numerals to sets, and enjoyed nursery rhymes with props and puppets.
As part of our art and maths integration, we created beautiful artwork inspired by Kandinsky, using circles of different sizes and colours — a perfect way to explore ordering, size, pattern, and shape.
The children also had fun playing with spinning tops and sensory toys of different textures, shapes, and sizes, helping them explore mathematical ideas through touch, movement, and curiosity.
To top it all off, we explored the capacity of different liquids through messy, sensory play — a fantastic, hands-on way to learn and discover!
